Some schools do not offer life insurance to their employees upon retirement, but they are not out of luck. Many insurance carriers offer conversion policies for these employees to continue their life insurance.  If you decide that you would like to convert your schools policy it will become an individual policy that has nothing to do with your old school, and is strictly between you and the insurance carrier.
